Born and raised in Germany, Joachim (Jack) Engel trained as a tool and die maker, apprenticing alongside his father. Jack and his wife, Gerlinde (Linda), immigrated to the United States in 1959. In 1988, they started their own tool & die making and metal stamping business, Engel Diversified Industries, Inc. (EDI), in a 5,000 square foot building in Shakopee, Minnesota. In 1992, they moved the business to a new 15,000 square foot facility in Jordan, Minnesota, the company’s current location. Over the years, this facility has expanded to 55,000 square feet of combined manufacturing and office space.
Today, EDI is still a family owned and operated business that serves a wide variety of industries across the United States. Current leadership embodies the culture first established by the Engel family: personalized customer service with a focus on quality, continuous improvement, technical and professional growth, and giving back to the community.
